Strategic Partnership in the North African Market
Fawry, Egypt's leading fintech company with a network of over 200,000 transaction points, has announced a strategic partnership agreement with Congineer, a Cairo-based enterprise solution consulting firm. The objective is to integrate Odoo ERP and Retail Pro with Fawry's digital payment platform, creating a comprehensive solution for the Egyptian retail industry.
This agreement marks a significant step in Egypt's digital transformation strategy, as retail businesses increasingly need integrated management systems spanning inventory, sales, and electronic payments. The combination of Odoo—the world's leading open-source ERP platform—and Fawry, the digital payment provider with the largest market share in Egypt, promises to create a benchmark model for the North Africa and Middle East regions.
Odoo ERP and Retail Pro: Comprehensive Retail Solutions
Odoo ERP provides a comprehensive business management system with over 80 integrated modules, covering inventory management, sales, accounting, and CRM. Retail Pro, a specialized retail management solution, complements this with multi-store management, omnichannel inventory control, and customer behavior analysis capabilities.
When integrated with Fawry Pay—a payment platform processing over 1 billion transactions annually—the system enables retail businesses to:
- Manage inventory in real-time across all sales channels
- Automatically synchronize sales data and payments
- Analyze revenue and store performance in real-time
- Support multiple payment methods: cash, e-wallets, QR codes, bank cards
- Automate accounting processes and financial reporting
Impact on Egypt's Retail Industry
According to the Central Bank of Egypt, digital payments in the country have grown 150% over the past three years, with over 70% of the adult population using at least one form of electronic payment. However, many small and medium-sized retail businesses still operate with disconnected systems, creating challenges in management and reporting.
The integrated Odoo-Fawry solution addresses this issue by providing a single platform for all business operations. Businesses can start with low investment costs thanks to Odoo's open-source model, then scale according to their needs without changing systems.
Ahmed El-Sawy, CEO of Congineer, commented: "The combination of Odoo, Retail Pro, and Fawry Pay creates the first end-to-end solution in Egypt. Retail businesses no longer have to choose between good management and modern payments—they get both in a single system."
Significance for the MENA Region
The success of this model in Egypt could serve as a template for the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, where retail markets are growing rapidly but technology infrastructure remains fragmented. Countries such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Morocco are all accelerating digital transformation in the retail sector.
Odoo is now present in over 40 countries, with a community of more than 100,000 businesses using the platform. Deep integration with local payment systems like Fawry strengthens Odoo's competitiveness against traditional ERP solutions from SAP or Oracle, which have significantly higher implementation costs.
For Vietnamese businesses seeking ERP solutions for international markets, the Odoo-Fawry integration model is a prime example of combining open-source software with localized services to create solutions tailored to each market's specific characteristics.
